Women's Co-opertives

We work with women’s co-operatives in Nepal supporting fair trade business practices. These co-operatives help women to earn a sustainable wage and create opportunities for themselves and their familiesThrough support we aim to preserve traditional artisan skills and help the women lift their families out of poverty.

Nepal is famous for its high mountain cashmere renowned as one of the world’s best. Take a look at our collection of cashmere scarves here.

Cashmere fleece is hand spun and woven in Nepal. It is the warmest and most luxurious of all the wools. It comes from the underbelly of the Capra Hircus goat that is reared sustainably in remote parts of the Himalayas and outer Mongolia at altitudes above 14,000 feet.

In Nepali folk lore analogies of the warmth of the wool are sung to the warmth of endeared love. Stories are told in the weaving of the pashmina and history is remembered.
