The Creative Process

Beshlie in Jaipur workshop

The moments that I’m so aligned with my creative flow deep in the old city of jaipur. Where the magic happens with the wood block masters and my printers of over 10 years, the shared chai and familiar faces and smiles as we mix colours and my designs come to life.

Flower Mandala

“I hope when love takes your hand, you don’t pull away.
Let it press its palm to yours, as if time doesn’t matter, as if it has loved you in a hundred lives before this one.
Let it sit beside you and say, ‘I am here’.
Let good things happen.
Don’t question the wind when it brings you spring.
Don’t ask the river
how long it will flow beside you.
What comes, comes.
What stays, stays.
What leaves,
bless it on its way.”

The Art Of Juggling Life and the Creative Process

It’s not just presenting the finished collection but for me it’s the telling of the story of how it came to be of all the inbetween. Of juggling a small bussiness with my two young children of crossing continents to be with my father who was in is last stages of life, holding his hand for the last time and knowing it was goodbye. To making peace, to letting go and saying that final farewell on the African red earth.

Every Step on the Journey is a Chance to Grow

To boarder crossings, delayed flights and waiting in strange hotels rooms in down town Abu Dhubai, To glittery airports and pink lipstick just for fun.
Being held up on Indian immigration for hours, the slow Indian bureaucracy with paper after paper with tired and hungry cublings. The patient waiting and not knowing if they will let us into our beloved pink city or not…
and if we would be on our way to Kathmando instead.
Every step of the way asking me to expand and grow a little more as these precious collections are created.

I would never change the journey to get there as it’s what keeps my gypsey spirit alive.
